Antarctica

A few facts about Antarctica: it was the last huge landmass to be discovered; a Russian explorer first happened upon this polar desert in 1820. Over 30 different countries jointly govern Antarctica, operating over 80 different research stations. There’s a recently discovered, yet-unnamed rift here that is bigger than the Grand Canyon. And in 1979, one Emile Marco Palma was the first human to be born on Antarctica; since that time, only 10 other humans can claim they’ve been born there.
