Honduras
Honduras, in the north-central part of Central America, has a Caribbean as well as a Pacific coastline. Guatemala is to the west, El Salvador to the south, and Nicaragua to the east. The second-largest country in Central America, Honduras is slightly larger than Tennessee. Generally mountainous, the country is marked by fertile plateaus, river valleys, and narrow coastal plains. Diving in Honduras is popular for scuba divers and beginner divers thanks to its calm and warm waters although advanced divers would also love its sheer drop-off points. The most visited islands are Roatan and Utila both sporting warm tropical waters with excellent water visibility and excellent marine life. Part of the second largest barrier reef in the world, the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, the islands of Roatan and Utila in particular feature vibrant coral, multi colored tropical fish, sponges as big as refrigerators and pelagic species. You might see manta rays, sea turtles and, especially from mid-February to April, whale sharks. The reefs here are more diverse than rainforests.

Barefoot Divers (DI)
Barefoot Divers is a PADI 5 Star IDC Center, offering valet diving and a full spectrum of PADI dive training opportunities. We have boats departing daily at 8:30am, 10:30am, and 2pm, and the dive sites we visit are anywhere from a 5 to 15-minute ride from the dive center (there are well over 30 fantastic sites within this range). Many of the sites in our area are characterized by dramatic reef walls, starting in the shallows (topped with sandy patches and coral heads), and dropping off far beyond recreational dive limits... all of which are teeming with a variety of life, from pelagics to macro. There are also a couple of wrecks that we dive as well. Of course, Roatan's famous "Mary's Place" dive site, with its stunning crevice swim-throughs, is just a few minutes from Barefoot Divers by boat. We offer small groups (typically 6-8 divers per boat, though our boats can accommodate up to 10), and all our dives are guided by PADI professionals. Fresh fruit, water, and towels are provided on every dive. Nitrox and well-maintained ScubaPro dive gear rentals are available for a surcharge.
